Another Reason Why Business with China is WRONG
When we buy anything "made in china" we pay for the bullets. Chris Reich
Beijing police halt unapproved church service By ALEXA OLESEN, Associated Press BEIJING – Beijing police on Sunday detained dozens of worshippers from an unapproved Christian church who were trying to hold services in a public space after they were evicted from their usual place of worship, a parishioner said. Leaders of the unregistered Shouwang church had told members to gather at an open-air venue in Beijing for Sunday morning services, but police, apparently alerted to their plans, taped off the area and took away people who showed up to take part. China's Communist government allows worship only in state-approved churches, but many Christians belong to unregistered congregations. Such "house churches" are subjected to varying degrees of harassment by authorities. More than 60 million Christians are believed to worship in China's independent churches, compared with about 20 million who worship in the ... full

Why Not Focus on Building Income?
I believe it's time to focus on building the nation's income which will in turn take care of the dirty little debt problem. Chris Reich Geithner warns U.S. to hit debt ceiling by May 16By Rachelle Younglai WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States will hit the legal limit on its ability to borrow no later than May 16, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Monday, ramping up pressure on Congress to act to avoid a debt default. "The longer Congress fails to act, the more we risk that investors here and around the world will lose confidence in our ability to meet our commitments and our obligations," Geithner said in a letter to congressional leaders. "Default by the United States is unthinkable." Previously, the Treasury had forecast that the $14.3 trillion statutory debt limit would be reached between April 15 and May 31. As of Friday, Treasury borrowing stood just $95 billion from the ... full

Customer Service is Part of Ethics
Rule Number One
The business and its cumbersome rules and procedures have become more important than the customer at most American businesses.
It
starts at the point of initial contact: "To speak with a sales rep,
fill out this form". It's as though the customer must qualify for
consideration prior to getting the answer to a question. The forms I've
seen are laughable. Some ask for the size of the business (annual sales
or number of employees), the position the lowly form 'filler outer' and,
in some cases, how much money will be spent.
If you have a
problem with your purchase, things get really dicey. Fill out another
form and then "expect to be contacted, usually within 48 hours".
It's
worse than that. Companies will charge credit cards before giving a
total (happened to me yesterday). Fail to give tracking numbers for

Stop Buying Made in China!
We must, as the buying public, hit the corporations in the wallet. If you have a choice, don't buy "made in China" products even from, no, especially from America based companies. When you're in the store, demand American made products and don't bitch about paying a little more for the work your neighbor does. Chris Reich
Trade gap widens on imports, jobless claims up
By Doug Palmer Doug Palmer
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. trade deficit
widened much more than expected in January as higher oil prices and
surging imports of capital goods and cars overpowered record exports in a
signal of strengthening domestic demand.
The trade gap grew by 15.1 percent to $46.3 billion from $40.3 billion
in December, the Commerce Department said on Thursday. Analysts had
expected a deficit of $41.5 billion.
The shortfall in trade with ... full

U.S. Decline in Global Arena: Is America No Longer No. 1?
Well respected journalist and writer... Let's please remember when election time rolls around that far more damage to this country was done by George Bush than his predecessor and successor combined. We must not buy into that deadly "deregulate" game again. In the absence of ethics, deregulation is a license to steal. Ethics, rebuild the manufacturing base and fix our broken education system or we will surely fail. Chris Reich
U.S. Decline in Global Arena: Is America No Longer No. 1?
By FAREED ZAKARIA Fareed Zakaria
I am an American, not by accident of birth
but by choice. I voted with my feet and became an American because I
love this country and think it is exceptional. But when I look at the
world today and the strong winds of technological change and global
competition, it makes me nervous. Perhaps most ... full
